Lyrics

Maggie & Josh, friends from the sandbox, nothing could keep ‘em apart
catching butterflies on Maggie’s farm, cruising gravel roads in Josh’s car
Josh had a secret no one knew, Maggie said I’ll never tell
She smiled as he told her of his truth on the edge of the wishing well
Josh said I gotta get out of this town, when we graduate I’m gone
They swore to make the most of the time they had, not 3 weeks later Maggie found Brad
He seemed alright but soon enough red flags started to fly
One day Josh picked up her for school and she had a bruise on her left eye
Things went from bad to urgent
Maggie called with an emergency
Brad had pulled a gun on her she needed help immediately
When Josh got to her house, Brad had left in a rage
And they knew the clock was ticking
So like Wanda & Marianne, they hatched a plan
Put pills in his bourbon, cut the breaks to his suburban
It was all black and white, so they made sure this would be the last night
He ever had, times up Brad
Josh left a bottle of Jack half empty in the back of Brad’s wrecked truck
Now Brad has a new pair of cement shoes and his picture on the cover of the local news
They drove his body miles away to a place no one would find
The paper called him a man on the run and they had an air tight alibi
The years drifted all away
Soon everyone forgot his name
The two moved to Tennessee became stars in the Nashville scene
No regretful thoughts
Yo Brad deserved just what he got
And the world will keep on spinning
So like Wanda and Marianne
They hatched a plan
Put pills in his bourbon, cut the breaks to his suburban
It was all black and white, so they made sure this would be the last night
He ever had, times up Brad
