The Road

I chose a road as something I would follow

I chose love as something I would leave behind

So I drove like there was no tomorrow

And I broke every single heart that I could find

I was a kid with a dream and a vision

But my eyes could only see in a straight line

And so the road was not a good decision

But there ain't no good in looking back in time

I met somebody on the lonesome highway

She asked if I was travelling by myself

Till then I'd only ever done it my way

Thought maybe it was time for someone else

So we tried to keep it all together

And for a while I saw the future in her eyes

But by the time she got to know be better

I'd become so hard to recognise

But I am no poor wayfaring stranger

I'm not going over Jordan over home
