Los Angeles-based Voz de Mando is an award-winning norteño and banda quintet who draw inspiration from the members’ Mexican roots.
∙ Their 2010 breakout song, “Comandos del M.P (500 Balazos),” was a Top 10 Billboard Hot Latin hit, thanks in part to its appearance in the Oscar-nominated drama A Better Life.
∙ Enrique Iglesias recruited them to perform on the Regional Mexican mix of his hit “Ayer,” from 2010’s double-Platinum release Euphoria.
∙ They received an Artist of the Year nomination at the Billboard Mexican Music Awards for 2012’s Y Ahora Resulta, which also received a Latin Grammy nod.
∙ The title track from 2014’s Levantando Polvadera went hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart and earned a Premios Lo Nuestro nomination for Best Regional Mexican Song.
∙ “Compadre No Rajes,” a narcocorrido that was released as a stand-alone single in 2016, served as the theme song for the US telenovela Ruta 35.
