Formed by Jesús Tirado Castañeda in 2001, Mexican banda outfit Banda Carnaval took its name from Mazatlán's annual Carnaval celebration, one of the world's largest.
∙ Banda Carnaval's 2008 album, Here We Are , spawned their first major hit in Mexico, “Pídeme.”
∙ “Gente Batallosa,” a collaboration with Caliber 50, was 2012's most-played song of the year in Mexico, and the two groups performed it together at the 2013 Latin Grammy Awards.
∙ A staple of the Mexican charts, Banda Carnaval has also found success in the US, most notably with the 2013 single “Y Te Vas,” which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard ’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
∙ Their 2013 LP, Las Vueltas de la Vida, was nominated for Best Banda Album at that year's Latin Grammy Awards.
∙ In 2020, they released En Vivo Desde El Rancho, a live album designed to satisfy fans who couldn't come to see them during quarantine.
∙ They were nominated for two Premio Lo Nuestro Regional Mexican awards in 2021.
