About Leeland
Artist Biography
Led by singer-songwriter Leeland Mooring, Leeland is a Christian rock band known for their anthemic, U2-influenced songs of praise.
∙ Mooring, who began writing songs at age 11, scored a publishing deal with EMI/Capitol Music Group when he was just 15.
∙ The band’s debut album, 2006’s Sound of Melodies, was nominated for a Grammy and four Dove Awards.
∙ Opposite Way, from 2008, reached No. 72 on the Billboard 200 and hit No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart.
∙ In 2009, the band collaborated with contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Brandon Heath on the single “Follow You,” a No. 18 hit on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart.
∙ “The Lion and the Lamb,” from their album Invisible, was included on Worship Leader’s Top 20 Songs of 2016 list.
∙ Leeland’s live cover of Sinach’s “Way Maker” reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart in 2019.
