Suria Records—home to the likes of May and Sofaz—hadn’t bet on groups in years, so it meant a lot when they signed X-Pose. It’s easy to see why: Furhan (vocals), Eppy (bassist) and Taqim (drums) take inspiration from ’90s pop-rock and revitalise it. However, to borrow the title of 2017 debut single, the group’s music isn’t mere “Sandiwara”. Songs like “Deru”, which features rap hero W.A.R.I.S, and “Maafkan Ku” show real fondness for the era’s conventions.
