Formed in 1997, the British rock band Toploader initially found their audience through live shows by opening for Coldplay, Robbie Williams, and Muse.
∙ Their cover of King Harvest’s 1973 single “Dancing In the Moonlight” was a top 10 UK hit in 2001 and soundtracked a pivotal dance scene in an episode of The Umbrella Academy in 2019.
∙ Toploader received four 2001 BRIT Awards nominations, including Best British Group and Best British Newcomer.
∙ In 2000, they were the final British band to play a concert at the original Wembley Stadium when they opened for Bon Jovi.
∙ The band’s first two records, 1999’s Onka’s Big Moka and 2002’s Magic Hotel, peaked in the top 5 of the UK album charts.
