The Remains are beloved by 1960s garage rock aficionados and fans of the NUGGETS boxed set (where two Remains singles—“Why Do I Cry” and “Don’t Look Back”-- are featured). Led by singer/guitarist Barry Tashian, the Remains gained a strong local following in the mid-1960s in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. Tashian and bassist Vern Miller wrote originals for the group, while also performing hard-edged versions of blues and R&B classics, such as their successful take on the Bo Diddley/Willie Dixon gem “Diddy Wah Diddy.” The band appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, and opened up for the Beatles on their final U.S. tour in 1966, but disbanded that same year. They reunited in the late 1990s to tour and record a new album.
Members of The Remains include, or have included, Barry Tashian.
