Combining both alt country and country soul stylings, Portland, Oregon act the Delines is the result of Willy Vlautin's near obsession with the intense, smoky vocals of Amy Boone and her ability to bring his downbeat characters to life. Taking time out in 2012 from Richmond Fontaine to focus on his successful writing career, Vlautin also found time to write new material inspired by Boone's voice. After assembling a band, they recorded their 2014 debut album, Colfax. When studio time booked to record a one-off single blossomed numerous tracks, the Delines emerged with 2015's ten-track Scenic Sessions. In 2016, Boone was involved in a car accident which left her with multiple injuries. Her lengthy convalescence led to a four-year gap between records, and the band eventually returned in 2019 with The Imperial. Early 2022 saw the release of The Sea Drift. They released Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom near before Valentine's Day in 2024.
