An English folk-pop quartet based out of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, the Cornshed Sisters employ a sonorous blend of four-part harmony-driven folk and crafty, left-field indie pop that invokes names like Stealing Sheep, the Unthanks, Field Music, the Futureheads, and the Staves. Featuring singer/songwriters Jennie Brewis, Cath Stephens, Liz Corney, and Marie Nixon, the group began performing in 2008, and made its recording debut in 2012 with the folk-driven Memphis Industries-issued Tell Tales. In 2017, the band decamped to Field Music's Peter Brewis' studio and conjured up a sophomore effort, the decidedly more pop-oriented Honey & Tar, again via Memphis industries. ~ James Christopher Monger
