The Chesterfield Kings are one of the most important bands to emerge from the garage rock revival that arose as an offshoot of the punk rock explosion in the late 1970s. Initially, the most lovingly accurate act on the scene, they started out playing covers of ultra-obscure '60s singles in a style that merged raucous suburban American teen sounds with the rougher textures of British Invasion groups. Their debut album, 1982's Here Are the Chesterfield Kings, was a landmark release in the garage revival community. They began writing originals for 1985's Stop! and thereafter incorporated a broader range of influences from rock & roll's storied past, such as Stooges-like punk and glammy heavy metal. 1994's Let's Go Get Stoned was a loving tribute to the Rolling Stones, and 2024's We're Still All the Same debuted a new lineup in the group's fourth decade.
