Portland’s STRFKR is a shapeshifting indie dance-pop outfit that has been joyfully bucking convention for more than a decade.
∙ STRFKR began in 2007 as Starf**ker, the solo project of frontman Josh Hodges, who selected the moniker as an ironic response to the idea of pursuing fame at all costs.
∙ “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second,” a song from the group’s self-titled 2008 debut, provided their first taste of success when it appeared in a national ad campaign for a big-box retail chain.
∙ The band’s third LP, 2013’s Miracle Mile, made the Billboard 200, and its 2016 follow-up, Being No One, Going Nowhere, hit No. 1 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.
∙ After years of being celebrated for their raucous shows, STRFKR put that energy to tape on 2019’s Live from Brooklyn Steel, the band’s first concert album.
∙ EDM upstart Whethan enlisted STRFKR to guest on “Stay Forever,” a track from his 2020 album, Fantasy.
Members of STRFKR include, or have included, Josh Hodges, Patrick Morris, and Keil Corcoran.
Musical InfluencesSTRFKR's musical influences include The Flaming Lips, New Order, Yo La Tengo and more.
