Producer and DJ Statik Selektah—born Patrick Baril—has spent more than two decades crafting his own mixes while running point on dozens of cuts by some of East Coast hip-hop’s biggest names.
∙ Originally known as DJ Statik, he began spinning at clubs and on the radio when he was 13 years old.
∙ His 2011 breakout Population Control, which featured the Mac Miller collaboration “Groupie Love,” debuted just shy of the Top 10 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
∙ After teaming up for 2011’s Well Done, rapper Action Bronson tapped him to help produce his major-label debut, Mr. Wonderful, which hit No. 7 on the Billboard 200.
∙ Not only does he host a long-running show on Eminem’s Shade 45 Sirius XM station, but he also appears as a DJ in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City.
