Brooklyn rapper and songwriter Skyzoo delivers dexterous narratives about city life, daily struggles, and dreams of success. Consistently grinding it out since the early 2000s, he built a buzz through numerous mixtapes and albums which included production from DJ Premier and 9th Wonder. Beginning with 2009's The Salvation, he focused on autobiographical lyricism, which continued with subsequent full-lengths like 2015's Music for My Friends and 2019's Pete Rock-produced Retropolitan. Into the 2020s, he has explored a more jazz-influenced direction with the EPs The Bluest Note and Milestones, and has offered deeply soulful and progressive full-lengths such as 2021's gentrification-themed All the Brilliant Things, 2023's conceptual The Mind of a Saint (with the Other Guys), and 2024's more personal Keep Me Company.
Skyzoo has also released music as a member of Barrel Brothers.
