Since the mid-2000s, California native John Vesely has performed pop and rock music as a solo artist under the name Secondhand Serenade.
∙ Vesely sold 15,000 copies of his 2005 debut album, Awake—which he recorded by himself as a demo—without any record label support.
∙ After scoring a record contract, he rereleased Awake in 2007 with two new songs and earned a No. 3 hit on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart.
∙ Secondhand Serenade’s double-Platinum “Fall for You,” from 2008’s A Twist in My Story, peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
∙ On Blues Traveler’s 2015 album, Blow Up the Moon, Vesely cowrote “Hearts Are Still Awake” and sang on “The Darkness We All Need.”
