With their proto-thrash metal, the long-lived Satan are a featured staple on the British metal scene. After numerous lineup changes, the core of guitarists Steve Ramsey and Russ Tippins, bassist Graeme English, and drummer Sean Taylor was formed in 1983. With singer Brian Ross, the band recorded the classic Court in the Act (1983), but after that the band's history became complicated. The hard rock-oriented album Out of Reach (1985) followed with singer Lou Taylor under the band name Blind Fury. A new Satan album, Suspended Sentence (1987), followed with singer Michael Jackson, then the band changed their name to Pariah and broke up in 1989. It wasn't until 2011 that Satan reunited with original singer Ross and followed up on their early days with records like Life Sentence (2013), Cruel Magic (2018), and Earth Infernal (2022). Maintaining the same lineup, the band released Songs in Crimson in 2024.
