Artist Biography
Saint Motel is an American alternative-pop band whose work incorporates dramatic visuals—from costumes in live performances to cutting-edge video tech.
∙ Frontman A/J Jackson, who started writing music in second grade, met lead guitarist Aaron Sharp at film school in Los Angeles, and they formed Saint Motel in 2007.
∙ The band made a video for each of the six songs on their debut EP, 2009’s ForPlay, with Jackson directing three of them.
∙ In 2014, the title track to their EP My Type became a Top 10 US hit.
∙ With their second LP, 2016’s saintmotelevision, they created interactive companion videos—called “virtualizers”—for each track, making it the first-ever virtual reality album.
∙ Their single “Move” rose to No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart in 2016, and it was also a top 20 Rock and Alternative radio hit.
∙ In 2020, Saint Motel opened New World, a virtual space featuring a room for each song on their third album, The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
