About Robin Banks
Artist Biography
Combining harsh Toronto tales with the instincts of a natural hitmaker, Robin Banks serves up certified street anthems with Somalian flavor. Born Liban Randall in 1995, he began his career in the mid-2010s, gaining a buzz after teaming up with fellow local artists like Pressa for songs like "Wass Gang." At first, he jumped into a more straightforward approach to rapping, with his 2016 single "Priceless" securing him plenty of attention upon its release. By the time he released 2018's Still Here, however, he adopted a more melodic approach, drenching hooks in Auto-Tune for an expressive sound that only made his songs more infectious. He filled well-respected projects like Hear My Pain (2020) and L.O.V.E. 2 (2021) with celebrations of good times and remembrance of rough patches. In the process, he's helped define a generation of Toronto hip-hop.
