Artist Biography
Punjabi-Canadian hip-hop artist Prabh Singh has pushed forward the wave of desi diaspora pop and rap with songs of romance and individualism. Based out of Calgary at the start of his career, Singh learned from bhangra as well as modern pop and R&B from artists including John Legend and The Weeknd. In 2021, Singh worked with Toronto-origin producer Jay Trak on “Show Off”, a slick testament to the rapper-singer’s skills on the mic and on the back of Trak’s success with his album New Kid on the Block. The artist-producer pair teamed up for more hits down the line, including “Veham”, “Gabru” and, most notably, “9:45” in 2023. A short but breezy love song that drives home Singh’s intentions, the latter showcases Singh’s charm, which is all laid out for the world to groove along to. Standing tall among the artists repping the movement of modern Punjabi hip-hop and pop, Singh is building devoted audiences in the West as well as in South Asia.
