Artist Biography
Assembled to provide music for college theatre productions in 2007, Payung Teduh have evolved into one of the most recognisable folk-jazz-pop bands in Indonesia. They boast a songbook full of delicate, sparsely mesmerising cuts like “Berdua Saja”, “Resah” and the brass-adorned smash “Akad”—all encapsulating their spellbinding use of breezy, dulcet guitars and gentle, easy-going rhythms. Losing figurehead vocalist Istiqamah Djamad in 2017 saw manager Marsya Ditia take on vocal duties, and her smooth yet impactful voice dovetails perfectly with the band’s soothing musical palette.
