R&B singer Nivea broke out with her feature on Mystikal’s 2000 hit “Danger (Been So Long).” This led to her own solo career and a string of other R&B/hip-hop collaborations.
• Her self-titled 2001 debut achieved moderate success. The album features rappers Pusha T and Lil Wayne and the R&B group Jagged Edge, which appears on “Don’t Mess with My Man,” Nivea’s first and only Top 10 pop hit.
• “Don’t Mess with My Man” earned the singer a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
• Production on Nivea’s second album, 2005’s Complicated, was primarily handled by her then-husband, The-Dream. The album sold poorly, leading Nivea to leave Jive Records.
• Her third album, 2006’s Animalistic, was only released in Japan. She then took a hiatus from music to raise her children after a divorce from The-Dream.
• In 2018, she featured on Lil Wayne’s “Dope New Gospel.” The following year, she released her fourth album, Mirrors.
