About MistaJam
Artist Biography
MistaJam has been a familiar voice on British airwaves since the 2000s. Born Peter Dalton in Nottingham in 1983, MistaJam got his start on pirate radio before joining the BBC in 2005, spinning dance music, R&B, and hip-hop in a variety of prime-time slots on both Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra. In 2020, he moved to Capital FM and Capital Dance, but the radio booth can’t contain his creative interests. He had already had a cameo on Knife Party’s “Sleaze” in 2012, and since the late 2010s, he has been increasingly visible as a producer. MistaJam dropped his debut single, the funky-house anthem “Rotate,” in 2018, and followed up with a string of similarly upbeat songs balancing classic-house grooves with modern EDM and pop. His instinct for fusion found an even sharper form on the 2021 David Guetta/John Newman collaboration “If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know),” which spins elements of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” into an irresistible piano-house anthem.
