Mikael Simpson is an award-winning Danish singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose alternative sensibility navigates moody downtempo atmospherics, indie rock and psychedelia, and arty club fare with equal poise. After releasing his diverse solo debut, Os 2 + Lidt Ro 2002, in the titular year, he hit Denmark's Top 20 for the first time with 2004's De Ti Skud. He ascended into the Top Five with 2006's Stille og Uroligt, 2009's Slaar Skaar, and 2011's eerie Noget Lånt, Noget Blåt ("Something Borrowed, Something Blue"), each hard to pigeonhole in terms of style. He had another Top 20 hit with the collection Kompilation 2002–2012 before releasing the more dance-oriented Overspring (Samlet) in 2014. Simpson then focused on touring, eventually returning to the Danish Top Five in 2021 with the concert album Mikael Simpson & Sølvstorm: Live at Vega (with his backing band).
Mikael Simpson has also released music as a member of luksus and Vi sidder bare her.
