At age 16, singer-songwriter Matt Corby appeared as a contestant on Australian Idol, where he came in second place.
∙ Looking for new inspiration, Corby temporarily moved to London and signed with Communion, an indie label co-owned by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons.
∙ He hit the Australian charts for the first time with 2011’s Into the Flame, a EP that has since gone Platinum seven times over.
∙ “Brother,” a single from Into the Flame, earned Song of the Year honors at the 2012 ARIA Awards, and Corby won again the following year, for the track “Resolution.”
