Platinum-selling singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis—born October 10, 1985 in Brynmawr, Wales—has blazed a fiercely creative streak through pop music since 2009. Building on the UK Top 5 success of 2010 debut The Family Jewels (released as Marina and The Diamonds) with the UK chart-topping concept album, Electra Heart (2012), she cemented her reputation as an innovative, genre-blending artist with an ear for melody. Marina’s subsequent releases have garnered further success, including an Ivor Novello nomination for the 2020 single “Man’s World.” Known mononymously as MARINA since 2018, Diamandis creates music that often draws on her incisive societal observations, expanding her talent for lyricism into a book of poetry, Eat the World (2024). The following year, she self-released sixth album PRINCESS OF POWER, arguably the most upbeat and defiant record of her career to date. “Moodwise, I just really wanted to create this euphoric feeling in my everyday life, and I use music as a way to create things and manifest things,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “So the whole record is really about infusing this euphoric frequency into my music.”
Influenced by MARINAMARINA has influenced the music of Anna Mae, Beltrano, Dion Yorkie and more.
