Indie-rock band Manchester Orchestra named themselves after the musically diverse British city, although they formed in Atlanta.
∙ In 2010, the band organized and performed in an annual music festival known as The Stuffing, which has featured such indie stars as Cage the Elephant and Kevin Devine.
∙ The video for their 2011 single “Simple Math” received a pair of MTV Video Music Awards nominations and won Best Music Video at the European Camerimage Awards.
∙ Cope—their hook-laden, harmony-filled fourth album—broke the band worldwide, peaking at No. 5 on the UK’s Alternative Albums chart.
∙ Singer Andy Hull and guitarist Robert McDowell wrote and performed the score for 2016’s critically acclaimed film Swiss Army Man, starring Daniel Radcliffe.
∙ Their 2017 single “The Gold” topped Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart.
