About Lunatic Calm
Artist Biography
This UK duo is one of the more mysterious acts to emerge from the electronica scene of the late 90s. The mysterious Howie Saunders and Simon Shackleton (aka sHack) have not issued much information explaining their backgrounds, opting to let the music do the talking instead. 1997 proved to be a busy year for the duo, as their debut, Metropol, was issued, as well as production/remixing jobs for Black Grape, Bush, and Curve (the ‘Chinese Burn’ single). Around the same time, Lunatic Calm also appeared on several soundtracks, such as Mortal Kombat Annihilation and The Matrix, both of which featured versions of the track ‘Leave You Far Behind’. Subsequently, more remix work came the duo’s way (DJ Scissorkick’s ‘Clap Yo’ Hands’ and Mankind Liberation Front’s ‘Isolated’), in addition to making an admirer out of Fatboy Slim, for whom Lunatic Calm served as one of several producers on his compilation, The Fatboy Slim/Norman Cook Collection. Five years after the release of their debut came a second effort, Breaking Point.
