About Kita Alexander
Artist Biography
Singer/songwriter Kita Alexander’s cozy pop songs feel as fresh and free as a light summer breeze—but never without a few stormy gusts in between. The ocean is practically in her veins, after all. Born in 1996 in Brisbane, the Australian artist grew up on the beach but found her first big break at the pub, playing local gigs as a teenager with just a guitar in hand. After building up her confidence on stage, she found her manager via an online search, and soon landed on the Australian charts with her 2015 debut single, the moody yet buoyant “My Own Way.” While her sun-soaked, synth-laced sound may often evoke the soft-pop sparkle of HAIM—as heard on 2016’s Like You Want To EP—it can also slip into darker, deeply personal territory. In 2017’s sweeping ballad “Hotel” she reflects on the death of her sister, while 2020’s soulful stunner “Against The Water” offers comfort to her husband, a professional surfer who suffered a brain injury during a competition. Still, every song is full of hope as Alexander finds a delicate balance between real-life adversity and feel-good romance.
