Ever since hip-hop saved him from a life in prison or on the streets, Mexican American rapper King Lil G has been making music to steer the youth away from the pitfalls he faced.
• Although the L.A. native began writing lyrics in his youth, he quickly abandoned music to get involved in street activity.
• He was eventually arrested and incarcerated. While on house arrest, he rededicated himself to music, and in 2004, he dropped his debut project, LA County’s Most Wanted.
• His released the mixtapes Blue Devil Part 2 (2011) and King Enemy (2012) via the independent label Double 9 Records.
• The rapper’s autobiographical 2014 single “Hopeless Boy” garnered more than 65 million views and streams across platforms.
• In 2015, his 90s Kid mixtape went Top 5 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
• King Lil G released Eternal in 2019. The music video for the single “No Face No Ca$e”—referencing his former management’s attempt to auction off his music catalog without his consent—surpassed 3.5 million video views in less than two months.
