A founding member of the alternative rap group Brockhampton, rapper and singer Kevin Abstract is known for his emotive, relatable lyrics.
• The artist’s eclectic list of influences includes Odd Future, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Lana Del Rey, and OutKast.
• Abstract self-released his first solo album, MTV1987, in 2014. But it was his breakthrough second album, 2016’s American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story, that set the stage for the rapid rise of his group Brockhampton.
• Brockhampton released three studio albums in 2017: Saturation, Saturation II, and Saturation III.
• Thematically, Abstract tackles heartbreak, depression, and the alienation of modern suburban life. He also addresses his homosexuality, hoping his openness and transparency will inspire more acceptance in the hip-hop community.
• Abstract’s third solo album, 2019’s ARIZONA Baby, was co-produced by Jack Antonoff and Brockhampton member Romil Hemnani. Brockhampton’s fifth album, Ginger, dropped four months later.
