In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I describe watching Missy Elliot's 2005 BET Awards Performance of Lose Control as my first kiss with hip hop music. I know I've had encounters with Hip Hop music earlier than this, but this performance is when I became conscious of it.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Noname, Telefone OutKast, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is the epitome of vulnerable, intentional, and educational music. Speakerboxx/Love Below is just so nostalgic and like ATL in a bottle. Telefone is melodically one of my favorite projects. It's a poetic offering.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I'm Not Perfect” This song may feel like a disclaimer but it's more of a declaration. Regardless of where I go with music and my career, this track will forever set the tone and affirm that I will always have something to learn. Owning my imperfections is liberating.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The first time I ever commentated at a mini ball in Atlanta. We had to use the word "dream" in a chant and I didn't intend to walk but I did and made it to last battle. Now 3 years later, I feel like I am living my dream of pursuing music seriously.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to perform on NPR Tiny Desk but make it super fun and immersive.
