The Byron Bay metalcore act hammers home the fight to save our planet.
About In Hearts Wake
Artist Biography
Powered by Jake Taylor’s full-throated roar, In Hearts Wake’s thrashing metalcore reliably nails soaring melodic heights and robust lyrical themes. Formed in Byron Bay, Australia, in 2006, the five-piece flexed their muscled potential on 2012’s tarot-inspired debut album Divination before 2014’s Earthwalker established the urgent environmental concerns that have since prompted organizing conservation initiatives. More varied in sound, 2020’s Kaliyuga was notably an 100-percent carbon-offset project, as documented in the band’s 2022 documentary Green Is the New Black. The latter’s soundtrack then saw In Hearts Wake stretch out into unplugged and remixed versions of previous songs and a gorgeous instrumental score. That gave way to more internal change as 2024’s Incarnation became their first album without bassist Kyle Erich and his clean vocal counterpoint. Conceiving a darker sequel to Divination, the band went even heavier without diminishing their commitment to protecting our planet and inspiring others to join the effort.
