Artist Biography
Finnish producer Idealism’s lush instrumentals create an escapist experience for fans of lo-fi hip-hop.
• Idealism—real name Lassi Kotamaki—started playing drums around age seven and picked up the piano shortly before recording his debut project.
• He got his start in 2016, when Bas van Leeuwen, founder of Chillhop Music, contacted him and uploaded his song “A Moment of Silence” to Chillhop’s Youtube channel.
• In 2016, he released his debut EP, Rainy Evening. He returned in 2017 with three more projects: Hiraeth, Amaranthine, and Nobody Else.
• He graduated from Scotland’s University Of Edinburgh in 2010 with a medical sciences degree.
• The producer cites Atu, Galimatias, Owsey, Evil Needle, Harris Cole, Asa, Stumbleine, and Nujabes as inspirations.
