Mandopop
Having overcome a fundamental obstacle to pursue music, Singaporean producer, singer and songwriter Hanjin Tan is a force to be reckoned with. Diagnosed with hearing loss in his younger years, he became a producer-songwriter in Hong Kong in 1998, working with Cantopop legend Eason Chan and other greats including Jacky Cheung. In his own work, Tan's voice is unmistakeable for its sheer dynamism set against shifting musical backdrops, whether it’s bass-heavy EDM (with Dough-Boy on“Down”), hip-hop (Buy 1 Get 1 Free or jazzy sentimentality (Raw Jazz). Single-minded invention is Tan’s style, and he won’t let you forget it.
