With her signature rasp and natural feel for heavy melodies, Ella’s career was inevitable. Having built her legend fronting the hard rocking Ella & The Boys while still in her teens, Ella (born in 1966) went solo in 1988 and has since knocked out one iconic album after another. It was a truly deserved honour when she stood resplendent on the opening ceremony stage to soulfully deliver the 1998 KL Commonwealth Games theme song, “Standing in the Eyes of the World”.
