Dan Pugach is a Brooklyn, New York-based drummer, composer, bandleader, and arranger. Born and raised in Israel, he emigrated to the United States in 2006. He formed and leads the Dan Pugach Nonet and Dan Pugach Big Band; both perform his original music. Further, he is a crack sideman who has appeared on recording projects from Terri Lyne Carrington, Banda Magda, Sam Blakeslee, and singer Nicole Zuraitis. His nonet's debut album, Plus One, appeared in 2018, and landed inside the Top 20 on the jazz album charts. It was nominated for a Grammy Award (Best Arrangement, Instruments with Vocals) alongside vocalist Zuraitis. In 2024 his big band issued Bianca Reimagined: Music for Paws and Persistence for Outside In Music. The same year he joined bassist Christian McBride, pianist/organist Maya Kronfeld, guitarist Gilad Hekselman, and others, on Zuraitis' How Love Begins. The album took home the 2025 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
