Jazz artist Vanisha Gould combines conversational and narrative lyricism with an elegantly understated and sensual vocal approach. The New York-based singer, songwriter, bandleader, and producer made her full-length debut with In Her Words (2021), recorded in tandem with fellow vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan. After Life's a Gig (2024), a collaborative album with pianist Chris McCarthy, Gould issued her own She's Not Shiny, She's Not Smooth (2024), the composition of which was fueled by her newfound self-acceptance. In addition to her albums, Gould has been featured on material headlined by the likes of Butcher Brown and Alex Tremblay. The extensive list of musicians with whom she has performed and recorded also includes pianist Victor Gould (her brother), saxophonist Eden Bareket, and bandleader J.C. Hopkins.
