One of Indonesia’s most successful male pop artists, Chrisye defied public expectations of how a popstar should look or sound. With his signature long hair, unassuming appearance and soft, inimitable tenor, Chrisye (born Chrismansyah Rahadi in 1949) shaped and defined pop music in Indonesia over the course of four decades, until his passing in 2007. Though he released more than 30 albums, it was his acclaimed 1977 soundtrack for Badai Pasti Berlalu that launched his career and contributed to his legacy as an Indonesian pop legend.
