Indie rock outfit Apollo Sunshine got their start in Boston melding classic power pop hooks with psychedelic and noise-rock elements. This mix, which struck a balance between structure and chaos, retro and futuristic sounds, was showcased on their debut, KATONAH, which appeared in 2003 and spawned the single “I Was On the Moon.” The group’s 2005 self-titled sophomore album garnered attention from local and national press, boosting the band’s profile. SHALL UPON NOISE, Apollo Sunshine’s third album, arrived in 2008.
