The pop-folk vocal trio the Limeliters were tenor Glenn Yarbrough, baritone Alex Hassilev, and bass Lou Gottlieb. Directly inspired by the Kingston Trio at their 1959 formation, the trio were part of the pop-oriented end of the folk revival, alongside the Chad Mitchell Trio and the New Christy Minstrels. After a successful series of top ten albums, Yarbrough left the group in 1963 for a solo career; he later scored the pop hit "Baby the Rain Must Fall." Ernie Sheldon took Yarbrough's place, but the trio split in 1965.
Members of The Limeliters include, or have included, John David, Glenn Yarbrough, Red Grammer, Ernie Sheldon, Alex Hassilev, and Bill Zorn.
