Lane 8 salutes the innovators with this June 2025 mix. “While I was collecting music for this mixtape, I had the feeling early on that there was an overwhelming amount of really interesting, unique electronic music coming out over the last few months,” the Denver-based DJ/producer tells Apple Music. “The trend of playing it safe and recycling successful formulas seems to largely be over (rejoice!) and in its place has come a lot of experimentation and an appreciation for standing out instead of fitting in.” The gauzy drift of Dead Bandit’s “One Eyed” gently heralds a fascinating trip that visits hypnotic, progressive sounds from the likes of Rebel Of Sleep and Sultan + Shepard and Joseph Ray, a glitchy dance-floor excursion from The 1975 and boundary-challenging remixes of Radiohead and Röyksopp by Henry Saiz and DJ Tennis respectively. “This makes for challenging but very fun mixing,” he says, “and it’s probably turned out to be one of my favorite mixtapes in recent years.”
