Ashes

Been thinking about death recently

They said this would happen when you turn twenty

I didn't believe it then

But I can change dramatically

Been reaching for The Fault in Our Stars

And the person that I was in the middle schoolyard

Wish I could hold her in my arms and say

You don't need to worry

What will remain of me when I go?

A bunch of pencil drawings and LEGO

Guitar strings and some funky clothes

And a handful of songs I wish I wrote

And the echo-oh of a goofy laugh

That'll fade to nothing far too fast

And a dream much bigger than

All of the ashes

I wanted to throw everything out

So there's nothing left to care about

The stuff that made me who I am

Think I understand it now

From the dust I will create anew

Dramatically change while staying true

Remembering who I wanted to be

Now blue are the eyes that watch over me and

What will remain of me when I go?
