Lyrics

It's midnight, I'm wide awake, feeling kinda low
Flipping through the pages of stories I don't know
Then a sound starts knocking, soft but at my door
I whisper, "Just a visitor, nothing more"
December's cold, the fire's dim, shadows on the floor
I'm missing someone special - Lenore forevermore
And the tapping keeps on coming, louder than before
Heart's racing as I open up the door
But there's nothing in the darkness, nothing to explore
Just an echo whispering "Lenore"
I turn around and hear it now tapping at the pane
I tell myself it's just the wind or maybe just the rain
But when I open up the window, what do I see?
A raven staring back at me
It perches high above me like it owns the night
Its eyes are burning through me with a demon's light
And it speaks just one word - "Nevermore" it cries
A haunting little anthem that won't say goodbye
Every question that I ask it meets the same reply
"Nevermore" oh "Nevermore"
"Is there hope? Is there healing? Will my heart be whole?"
The raven only answers with its cold control.
"Will I see her in heaven? Will I hold her once more?"
But all it says is "Nevermore"
Get out of my head! Get out of my space!
Take your shadow and leave no trace!
But the raven still sitting above my door
Its shadow stretching across my floor
And my soul sinks deeper than ever before -
Forever lost to "Nevermore"
