Late Summer Light

Though I don’t mind taking my turn

I know I got a few things I could learn for sure

About moving slower

But you got no worries like mine

You got the flow of a table wine

You put my hand on the small of your back

And you move in closer

Everybody’s pressed in so tight

Everybody’s feeling alright

No I never want to leave

Leave us to dance in the street

You and me in the late summer light

‘Til the shadows have started to fall

Stretching out towards the edge of it all

And the crowd all around us has split

And the last little bit of music is gone

‘Til the locals have started to know

We got no intention of going

Hovering like satellites

We become a part of the show

I can feel it taking control

No idea as to where it might go

Candles all beginning to smoke

Rhythm section starting to slow

Careful whispers keep us in sight

Naked into the garden at night

Let us dance like no one’s around

Or better yet like they’re all here beside us
