Christmas Letter

Starin\' out the window at the snow

The neighbors are outside as I write down all the things I want the most

I wonder where this letter goes

When I send it around the world each year to make sure that I let you know

Is it childish to write and make a Christmas wish?

I know you’re far away

With so much work to do

And I have to understand

There’s so many people that count on you

This Christmas Day

I won’t ask for much

I know you’re fighting there so we can open presents here

Dear Daddy, I just want you home this year

I know I can’t be the only one

With pen and paper wondering if you’ll even get this once it’s gone

I made a soldier snowman on the lawn

And I’ve been so good this year taking special care of mom

All I got was a ribbon in the yard

now your work is through

And I’ll have to understand
