Beer Tabs

Only, 12 years in again

And I still can't recall where my damn life went

Feels like I'm never ahead

And the good times always

Seem to fall absent

So, I sit drinking alone

And just lay back and let my head spin

There are, beer tabs and bottle caps

Sitting on the dining room table

And, I'm just wondering

If I'm ever going to be able to get over you

Girl, I can't seem to drown the thought of you

How could I love and hate you in the same day

Sober me comes around and pushes you away

But in the night when I start to drink

Our past is remembered and I go irate

With how I drank just to stay sane

But a few beers in and I feel the shame

Then there are beer tabs and bottle caps

Laying on the dining room table

Drunk again, wondering

If I'm ever going to be able to get over you

Girl, I can't seem to drown the thought of you

I think it's best to be sober me

Good to say, but it's not easy

Wish I could throw you in past

But all I throw back is beer and the whisky

Wish I could tell the sober truth

But all I've done sober is lie to you
