Tongue Tied

Did he say it right, his native tongue just let a chance go by

So much left to describe he says

"I'm désolé, je ne parle pas français"

And as he walks away, she gives him a smile, but

All that he heard were lovely little passwords

Feelings floating up, so hard to capture

All just kind of sounds like, "Ooh la la"

Tongue tied, he can't get it right, all mixed up

Tongue tied, he can't say it right, twisted up

Getting kind of late, last call and now there's

One more move to make

Asks her what she's drinking, she says

"Désolé, je ne parle pas anglais"

And as she slips away, he searches the crowd

Simple things ain't always understood

And when the words don't feel the way they should

They all just kind of sounds like, "Ooh la la"
