The longing for meaning

A melody followed in vain

Time's an evasive fiend

And purpose a painful path to sustain

As the artisan perfects his creation

Lacklustre, vicious and cruel

Heaven, a memory mundane

Lonely the bird that transcends the final eclipse

And wastelands of smoke

Pale beauty awoke from her slumber

The abyss slid open under her feet

I wished for her life to go on
