Lyrics

I was a teenager in Poland 1943
Spending every single day at the factory
I was walking home one day, the baker let me know
Tell your parents you need to pack your bags and go
At midnight I heard Shouting and banging on my door
Alle Yuden Raus they yelled and then even before they questioned us,
Then shot my aunt and grandparents in the head.
In an instant half my family was dead.
On the train I heard Auschwitz would be our final stop
I didn't just get my head shaved at the barbershop
 They Tattooed my arm B-273
It became my new name and my identity
When the guards returned later, they put my friends in rows of five
One officer was laughing and said You'll never get out alive,
Tell me where Leib Friedman is or else I'll start to shoot"
I was hiding in the back row on one stone with two boots
My father told me to get his coat, he had left it in the shed
I never gave it to him cause when I got back he was dead
I thank god that my kids and grandkids actually exist
Every time I look down at my wrist
 They tattooed my arm B-273
A number that will always remind me my history
How lucky I am to be telling my story
After living through the worst tragedy of losing my family
