Peace by Moonlight

Woke up today

With brand new eyes

Looking all around me like I’m seeing in color

For the first time

Walked outside

And the sun upon my skin

Felt like a promise that we’re never going back

To where we’ve been

We’ve been under that cloud for so long

Couldn’t know how heavy it was ‘til it was gone

There’s a better world

Where the doves aren’t afraid of the hawks

Where the voices that were stifled are heard

Where the killing stops

Still waiting for our children

Hope with every morning sun

I was hiding in my silence

I’ve stood by too

But today’s not yesterday

And there’s work to do

We’ve come so far but oh

We can’t stop yet

A fire needs oxygen
